Your wisdom teeth journey begins with a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Hill, where he’ll examine your teeth and jaw, review medical images, create a treatment plan, and answer your questions.
Preparing for the Procedure
To ensure a safe, successful procedure, Dr. Hill may recommend pausing certain medications or supplements and advise patients to stop smoking before and after surgery.
During the Procedure
During your wisdom teeth removal, you’ll be cared for in our state-of-the-art surgery center with on-site anesthesia to keep you comfortable, and while the procedure typically takes under an hour, you won’t feel pain—just some mild soreness for a day or two afterward.
Immediately After the Procedure
After your procedure, Dr. Hill and his team will review aftercare instructions with you and your escort, ensure you have a safe ride home, and remind you that while anesthesia effects usually fade within 6 hours, you should rest and avoid driving or heavy activity for 24 hours.
Wisdom Teeth Removal
Most Common Reasons To Have Wisdom Teeth Removed
For most patients, the mouth has insufficient space for wisdom teeth to erupt as normal. This leads to a high risk of impaction, with wisdom teeth often remaining partially or completely trapped under gum and bone. Even when the wisdom teeth are not impacted, crowding in the mouth can cause them to grow at unusual angles, potentially damaging other teeth.
Preemptive wisdom teeth removal can help avoid a host of problems, including:
- Avoid Crowding
- Discomfort And Sensitivity Around The Impacted Teeth
- Infection In and Around the Gums
- Damage To Adjacent Teeth
- Cysts Around The Jawbone
- Tooth Decay
